  1. India is emerging as one of the engines of the global economy and a major investment destination. India’s Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Scheme offers one of the most competitive packages. The challenge today is how to combat the global slowdown without slowing down our economy, and SEZs offer the best platform for generating economic activity and employment to sustain high economic growth.

The EOU/SEZ Sector is a major contributor to India’s export basket. Exports from only the SEZ sector in 2019-2020 amounted to US $111 Billion, while EOUs exported US $12 Billion during 2018-19. These units cover major industrial sectors such as textiles, garments & yarn, food & agro products, electronics & software, chemicals, engineering, minerals, and granites. The EOU/SEZ sector provides direct employment to over 2.5 million people in India.
  4. EPCES has published the updated SEZ Act & Rules.
