11th Ayurveda Day: Conference on ‘Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow’

On 23 September 2026 on the occasion of 11th Ayurveda Day, the Embassy of India organized a Conference themed “Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow,” at the Le Grande Plaza Hotel, Tashkent.
- The event brought together over 60 participants, including Director from the Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Folk Medicine of Uzbekistan along with doctors from the Centre, representatives of the Association of Traditional Medicine of Uzbekistan, practitioners of traditional medicine, local healthcare institutions, OSCE Project Coordinator, healthcare professionals, Indian companies and members of the Indian community. Dr. Tanmay Goswami and Dr. Nikhila Hiremath, Ayurveda experts from India participated virtually.
- In her opening remarks, Ms. Smita Pant, Ambassador of India to Uzbekistan emphasized the theme of the Conference highlighting the significant economic expansion in Ayurveda. She also mentioned the ongoing bilateral cooperation in the field of traditional medicine and the opportunities for further collaboration. Ambassador underlined the growing global interest in Ayurveda for health and wellness, and its relevance in addressing contemporary health challenges. She encouraged the business and scientific community to work together to benefit from the enormous opportunities in the spheres of Ayurveda and traditional medicine.
- The programme featured a virtual presentation by Dr. Nikhila Hiremath, Director, Lifestyle and Wellness at LYBL Healthcare and a licensed Physician from Bengaluru on “Evidence, Research and Innovation in Ayurveda,”. This was followed by a detailed presentation by Dr. Doniyor Azimov, certified Ayurveda practitioner in Uzbekistan on strengthening Uzbekistan-India Health Diplomacy through AYUSH and TCIM. The programme featured an online keynote address by Dr. Tanway Goswami, Ayurveda Physician, author and wellness mentor from Udupi on Importance of Ayurveda in contemporary life. Dr. Jalil Abdullaev, Ayurveda Physician from Uzbekistan gave an overview of benefits of Ayurveda for holistic health. Thereafter, Mr. Ashok Tiwari, Chairman of pharmaceutical company Shayana Farm and also Chairman of the Indian Community in Tashkent spoke on the opportunities for Ayurveda in Uzbekistan.
- The programme concluded with an informative video on Ayurveda. An Ayurveda Corner was also set up at the venue, showcasing Ayurvedic products and books which generated considerable interest among participants.
- The proceedings provided diverse perspectives on Ayurveda, including its traditional foundations, contemporary applications, evidence-based research, wellness practices and prospects for further development in Uzbekistan. It also served as a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and networking among the stakeholders in traditional medicine and healthcare. Discussions also explored prospects for the wider promotion of Ayurveda in Uzbekistan and for strengthening institutional, professional and commercial linkages between the two countries.
