Launch of e-OCI Card

The Government of India has launched electronic Overseas Citizen of India (e-OCI) Cards in lieu of physical OCI cards for the new applicants and existing OCI card holding physical booklets. The following are the useful points with regard to e-OCI cards:

a)

e-OCI Card has been launched on 30 June 2026 for new applicants and existing OCI physical booklet holders.

b)

The new e-OCI Card incorporates enhanced security features and has been integrated with all Immigration Check Posts (ICPs).

c)

e-OCI Card holders are not required to carry a physical OCI card for immigration clearance and other associated services.

d)

The e-OCI Card can be downloaded through the OCI Services Portal and the official Indian Visa Su-Swagatam Mobile App.

e)

Existing physical OCI booklets shall continue to remain valid and will be accepted for immigration and other associated services.

Important Notice: It is informed that now onwards, only digital OCI card (e-OCI) will be issued to all new OCI applicants as well as existing physical booklet OCI Card holders.
